Being one of the most ancient civilizations of all times, India has an intimate association with Mother Nature from whom our ancestors have mastered diverse skills. Our forefathers being fully aware of Mother Nature’s multifaceted disposition, drew inspiration from Her and passed on their invaluable lessons they’ve learnt over centuries to their future generations That’s what makes our artworks and artists exceptional as they carry with them the time-tested knowledge of their ancestors that has a prominent reflection even in their present day art forms. Our artists have myriad precious jewels to offer to the world and they’re the ones who’re our veritable stimulus. A few years ago, while speaking to one of our artists in a village of West Bengal, she said “in what way is our art less precious than gold and silver? You can spend money and get gold but can you get these objects of art everywhere? We have to salvage our know- how!” The name ORUM INDICUS thus came into being…..after all what we bring to you is as precious as gold itself, if not more !
ORUM INDICUS is nothing more than a mere facilitator in this venture of our artisans, trying in our humble way to showcase their talents through this platform to make the world aware of our glorious and fascinating patrimony. We are closely connected with hundreds of artists and craft persons all across the Nation and together we are engaged in promoting the indigenous artworks of India. Even to this day our craftsmen and artists use sustainable and natural ways to produce their artistry; from crafting to dyeing or colouring, they use the same methods that they’ve learnt from their forefathers. Our handcrafted products have deep roots in the rich and diverse traditions of our age old civilization.
Being entirely handcrafted, there’s a probability of the majority of our handcrafted products having some imperfections in them. But that’s what makes our offerings distinctive and authentic. That means no one piece of the artwork you own is alike another. Our sincere effort is to bring to you our traditional handcrafted products that are unique, genuine, of superior quality and eco-friendly. The replenishment of our stock is done with handpicked products. We source them directly from our artisans, some of whom belong to the indigenous tribal communities residing in various parts of the Nation; hence the genuineness of each and every piece of handicraft is guaranteed.
